We are happy and proud to announce that our paper entitled "BigDataStack: A holistic data-driven stack for big data applications and operations", submitted to the IEEE BigData Congress 2018, affiliated with the 2018 IEEE World Congress on Services (IEEE SERVICES 2018), has been accepted for publication.
The paper presents the architecture of a complete stack (namely BigDataStack), based on a frontrunner infrastructure management system that drives decisions according to data aspects, thus being fully scalable, runtime adaptable and high-performant to address the needs of big data operations and data-intensive applications. Furthermore, the stack goes beyond purely infrastructure elements by introducing techniques for the dimensioning of big data applications, modelling and analysis of processes, as well as the provisioning of data-as-a-service, exploiting the proposed seamless analytics framework.
This is really an impressive result for the project, for several reasons:
- it is the unique architecture to be presented in IEEE Big Data Congress
- it is one of the 19.8% accepted papers in the conference
- we have an initial version of the architecture, in a so early stage of the project, already evaluated positively by 6 externals experts!
Our next steps will be to provide an implementation of the proposed architecture and to validate it through three different use cases that the consortium has brought on board from the maritime, retail and banking domains.
